Samuel Badgley was bp. 5 Apr 1767 @ Westfield Presbyterian Church, Westfield, New Jersey
He married Mary Frazee da. of Henry Frazee and Sarah Maxwell on 6 Jan 1791 @Westfield Presbyterian Church
He died 7 Jun 1843 in Westfield
The will is difficult to read and I have done my best to be accurate.

In the name of God Amen I Samuel Badgley of the Township of New Providence in the County of Essex and State of New Jersey being of sound mind understanding and memory do make ordain and declare this to be my last will and testament
My body I commit to the Earth, and my Soul into the hands of God who
gave it-I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral charges be
first paid out of my personal estate except those secured by Mortgage
and after paying all my other debts I direct that the balance of my
personal estate (it was folded here and cannot be read for one line)
after otherwise disposed of by applied towards the payment of the
mortgages aforesaid according to their amount respectively
I give and bequeath to my wife Mary one cow, one —-? mare. one (now)
yearling heifer one Bed Bedstead and bedding one dressing table one
clothes and one corner cupboard six chairs one pair andirons shovel and
tongs pots kettles and such other articles of household and kitchen
furniture as I may be possessed of at the time of my decease as may be
necessary for her comfort and convenience
I also give and bequeath to my wife Mary

during her natural life the one equal half part of the produces of the
Farm on which I now live except —-. —- so much of that as may be
necessary to keep one horse and two cows which is to be cut and put into
the barn and her part of the crops of every description to be gathered
and housed in due season ready for her use. All of which larour and
services are to be done and performed by my two sons Maxwell and Jacob.
Its for and in consideration of the bequeath hereinafter made to them
without any charge to her my said wife Mary and I further direct that
my son Jacob F. shall at all times have a good and sufficient quantity
of wood cut and drawn to the door and cut up ready for use from that
part of the—– hereinafter bequeathed to him for the use of my said
wife Mary during her natural life without any charge therefor-
I also give and bequeath to my said wife Mary during her natural life
use of the front room in the house I now occupy and as much of the
cellar and chamber as may be necessary for her convenience.
I give and bequeath to my Son Henry the one equal half part of a lot of
Salt Meadow I now own near Elizabeth Town containing in all

about six acres.
I give and bequeath to my son Maxwell all that certain piece or tract of
land I purchased of Samuel Miller containing fifteen acres-Also another
piece purchased of william Potter containing seven acres and direct that
he the said Maxwell shall pay the incumberances which may be upon said
land at the time of my decease.
I give and bequeath to my son Jacob Foster the house in which I now live
together with the land on the North side of the Road leading to
Springfield continuing eleven miles. Also the lot or tract of land in
front of the lot of Salt Meadow I now own near Elizabeth Town containing
in all about six acres. And I direct that he the said Jacob shall pay
whatever encumberance there may be upon the above land and premises at
the time of my decease which I have bequeathed to him.
I also give and bequeath to each of my daughters Viz: Hume, Sarah, and
Ann the sum of twenty dollars each one (at this point the pages were

Ten Dollars all of which several ——-? I order and direct to be paid
by my son Jacob Foster in consideration of the bequest made to him being
more than to any other of my said children
Finally—I appoint my two sons Henry and Jacob Foster executory to this
my last will and testament In Witness thereof I have hereinto set my
hand and seal this twelveth day of July in the year of Lord One Thousand
