In the name of God Amen this seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven I James Badgley of the borough of Elizabeth in the county of Essex N. Eastern direction of the Porvince of East New Jersey -----? Being sick of body but in perfect memory do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament In?Form? and following that ------? principally ---?---? of all I give and resign my soul into the hands of God who gave it me and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and desent (his spelling) manner at the siscresion of my Executor here after named and as touching that wordly estate when with it hath please God to -----?me in this life
I desire of as follows-------? it is my will that all my just debts and
funeral lcharges be honestly paid.
ITEM I give and bequeth unto Hannah my beloved wife one equal third part
of all my moveable estate and one equal third part of my home lot where
on I now live to be her property during her natural life as her right of
dowry.
ITEM I give and bequeth unto my son James Badgley five shillings more
then I have given him before
The five shillings is to be paid unto my son James Badgley or to his
heirs or assigns and no more by my Executors at my desese (his spelling)
ITEM I give and bequeth unto my son Joseph Badgley five shillings more
that I have given him by deed before. The five shillings is to be paid
unto my son Joseph Badgley or to his heirs or assigns and no more by my
executors at my desese
ITEM I give and bequeth to my two sons Anthony Badgley and Robert
Badgley all my home lot or plantation where I now live to be equally
divided between them In quantity and quality as they can come.
ITEM I give and bequeth unto my son Anthoney (his spelling) Badgley the
equall half of my lot of -----? at the mountain separate of that half
which my son Robert Badgley has now a Deed for of me.
ITEM I give and bequeth unto my two sons Anthoney and Robert Badgley the
one half of that lot of land adjoining Joseph Badgley and dWilliam
Parsel which I lately run out to them and their heirs for ever in
consideration where of it is my will I do order them my sons Anthoney
Badgley and Robert Badgley to pay unto their mother twenty five pounds
Lite? current money and I do order my two sons Anthoney Badgley and
Robert Badgley to pay unto my ----- daughters daughters namely Hannah
Elizabeth Rachal Sarah Masah twenty five pounds Lite money a fore and to
be equally divided between the five above name Hannah Freland, Elizabeth
Freland Rachel Freland Sarah Freland and Masah Freland------
And I do order and it is my will that my two sons Anthoney badgley and
Robert Badgley to pay the above legisee to their mother in one year
after my death and I so order and it is my will that my sons Anthoney
Badgley and Robert Badgley to pay the above written hanah Elizabeth
Rachal Sarah Marsah in one year after my desese---
ITEM I give and bequeth unto my four sons James Anthoney Joseph Robert
afore and all my unsurveyed lands and Right of Lands to be equally
divided between them and their heirs for ever
ITEM I give to William Roberson my grandosn the sum of forty shilling to
be paid to hime or his heirs or assigns for ever to be paid by my
executors at my desese
ITEM I give and bequeth unto my grandaughter the wife of Job Little the
sum of forty shillings to be to her and her heirs and assigns for ever a
leagesy to be paid to her by my executors at my desese
ITEM I give the rest of my movable estate to my sons Anthoney Badgley
and Robert Badgley and to their heirs and assigns for ever to be equally
divided between the pair Anthoney and Robert at my desese
This legesee given my daughter Marsy Garles It is my desire that if
any of the before mentioned hannah Elizabeth Rachal Sarah should die
before this legesee should become due Then it should be equally divided
between the living ones
ITEM I do make ordain and appoint my two sons Anthoney Badgley and
Robert Badgley Joint executors of my last will and testement and I do
----? revoke-------? and make void all others and former wills
testements and executed by me before made of named Ratafying and
confirming this and no other to be the last will and testement
I Witness whereof I the said James Badgley have here and set my hand and
seal the day and year above written
