Died At Hurley Hospital
Mrs. N.A. Hewitt Is Survived By Eight Children
Mrs. N.A. Hewitt, aged sixty-one years, a resident of Genesee county for the past forty-two years, died this morning at Hurley hospital, where she was taken several days ago for an operation. The body was removed to the undertaking establishment of the A.W. Dodds company, and this afternoon will be removed to the family residence, 631 West Wood street.
Born in the east, Mrs. Hewitt came to Michigan in company with her husband, Harris Jewell, whose death occurred two years subsequent to their arrival here. They first settled in Forest township, later going to Montrose township. His widow remarried later, Mr. Hewitt dying eighteen years ago. Eight children survive, as follows: Walter Jewell, of Cadillac; Mrs. Eva Jewell Myers, of Flint; Alvin Hewitt, of Montrose; Charles Hewitt, of Marion, Mich.; Byron, Clarence and Miss Addie Hewitt, all of this city, and Mrs. Sarah McGary, of Salem, Ohio. Mrs. Hewitt was the first of a family of ten children to be taken away by death. The others are: Abram, Charles and Joseph Upper and Mrs. Rhoda Smith, all of Otisville; Mrs. Anna Smith, of Alpena; Mrs. Permelia Davison, of Marion, Mich.; Mrs. Abbie McLean, of Herbert, Mich.; and Peter and Zeph Upper, of Marlette.
The funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the residence, Rev. H. Voorhess, pastor of the Free Methodist church, officating. Interment will be made in the cemetery at Mt. Morris.
