Just got off the phone with Auntie Em. She said, "Rog was very sick on that trip". She said, "while they going over the 'Rockies' that he was so ill he was lying on the floor of the car". And while they were at Aunt Dode's, she (Em) went downstairs to tell the adults that, "there was something wrong with Rog, he was really sick". She said, "he was really having trouble breathing".
At the beginning of the trip as they were going through San Bernardino, I believe they would have been traveling on Foothill Blvd, at this time, 1949, the 210 Freeway had not been built, the 'swamp cooler' broke and dumped all the water onto Grossie.
