MONTPELIER, Ohio Carl E. Malone, 74, of 1011 Bordner Road, died Wednesday (June 8, 1994) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 5, 1919, in Montpelier, to William and Margaret Edwards Malone, he was a lifelong resident of Montpelier.
Mr. Malone was a car inspector and crane operator for the Norfolk and Western Railroad, retiring Nov. 30, 1979, after 40 years of service.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in India, a member of the Montpelier Church of the Nazarene, member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
His wife, Helen, preceded him in death April 30.
Surviving are four daughters, Lois Wright and Margie Gill, both of Montpelier, Susan Harrington, Alvordton, and Carol Courtney, Pioneer, Ohio; four sons, William, lames, Ronald and Philip, all of Montpelier; two sisters, Alice Riddle, Hobatt, Ind., and Retha Letner, Rensselaer, Ind.; one brother, Clarence of West Unity, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Also preceding him in death was a brother.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier, with the Rev. Sam Starnes officiating. Burial will be in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Williams County, the American Cancer Society, or the Montpelier Church of the Nazarene.
