SPARTANBURG, SC-- Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 16, at 11:00 AM at St. Margarets Episcopal Church, 4180 Highway 9, Boiling Springs.
Mr. Porter died on August 31, 2006 in Littleton, CO. He was 92 years young. Mr. Porter was a retired police officer who moved to Spartanburg with his wife in 1983. He was a decorated WW II veteran who landed on the shores of Omaha Beach during the Normandy invasion. Mr. Porter was a founding member of the Spartanburg Stroke Club whose mission is to provide information and support to stroke victims and their families.
He is survived by his two daughters, Pam Porter of Littleton, CO and Margaret Pinky Grzesiak of Gypsum, CO; and two grandchildren.
The family has requested contributions be made to individual favorite charities in lieu of flowers.
