HEWITT, Ralph C., Sr. - Of Clio, age 83, died Sunday, January 25, 1998 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1PM Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at West Vienna United Methodist Church, Rev. James Britt officiating with burial in West Vienna Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clio Chapel of Whipple Funeral Homes on Tuesday from 2-9PM. Mr. Hewitt will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10AM until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or West Vienna United Methodist Church.
Ralph was born May 4, 1914 in Clio, MI, the son of Almon and Edith (MacGillvray) Hewitt. He had resided in the Clio area his entire life. Ralph married Erma Graves, February 19, 1932 in Flint, MI. He was a member of the West Vienna United Methodist Church. Ralph was employed with Buick for 30 years, retiring in 1972 and a member of UAW Local #599.
Surviving are: wife, Erma; son, Ralph C. "Sonny" and wife Gail Hewitt, Jr. of Naples, FL; daughter, Jane and husband Robert Richardson of Clio; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gordon and wife Doris Hewitt of Petosky, Donald and wife Beverly Hewitt of Clio; sisters, Thelma Williams, Edna Gasche, Luella Allen and Marjorie Schoeppach, all of Clio; several nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, Russell in 1987.
