- After a year's illness, Charles Edward Pringle passed away on September 29, 1977, at Lenadco Home,Napanee, Ontario, in his 71st year.
He was a prominent farmer in the Selby area where he had lived all his life on the family farm until a year ago.
Mr. Pringle was a former member of Richmond Township Council, a member of Selby United Church, Selby L.O.L. Argyle Lodge, L.O.F. and the Bay of Quinte Branch of The United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada.
He was a descendant of Joseph Pringle, U.E. one of the original settlers who came to the Bay of Quinte area in 1784 after the American Revolution with Major James Rogers' Corps of the King's Royal Rangers N.Y., along with his father Joel, and brothers Joel, the Younger, Timothy, William and Doctor Pringle and sister Lois who was married to John Dafoe, Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen (Price) Pringle, sons Sidney of Napanee and Neil on the family farm, Selby, and daughters Mrs. Leo Kent (Muriel) of Belleville, Mrs. Clarence McTaggart (Edith) of Empey Hill, and Mrs. Raymond Stephens (Lois) of Oshawa. A sister, Jennie A. Pringle of Oshawa and twelve
grand children also mourn his loss.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mrs. James A. Henderson (Olive) in 1947 and Mrs. W.H. Bell (Frieda) in September 1977.
A memorial service was conducted by the Rev. Boyce Elliott of Selby in the Tierney Funeral Home,."
