- Mrs. Elizabeth E. Seltz, 74, of 400 Maple Street, Gladwin, died Friday morning, April 7, from a sudden heart attack. She was on her regular morning walk downtown and to the post office, when death occurred.
Born in Hope, Midland County, November 21, 1897, the former Miss Elizabeth Ensign was married to Oscar Seltz on January 21, 1918. They farmed for many years on Three Rivers Road, in Secord Township, before moving to Gladwin City in 1960. Mr. Seltz died Sept. 7, 1971. She was a member of the Gladwin Senior Citizens Club and the Gladwin High School Athletic Boosters Club.
Surviving are four sons, Clarence of Lake Tahoe, Calif., Wilbur of Rochester, Elmer of West Branch, and Roger of Lexington Park, Md.; seven daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ella) Vallender of Beaverton, Mrs. Nathan (Virgelyn) Fial of New York City, Mrs. Laura Smith of Jackson, Mrs. Wilbur (Bertha) Raymond of Gladwin, Mrs. John (Dorothea) DeLair of Midland, Mrs. Nelson (Wanda) Cornell of Chicago, Mrs. Gerald (Clara) Carvey of Alma; and one brother, Fred Ensign of Chicago. A son, Vernon, died in 1969.
Services were held Sunday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mathews Funeral Home with the Rev. John W. Cermak officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Gladwin County Record dated 4-12/1972
