- JACQUES, AURORA DONNA (SHAW) Cheboygan, MI Bay City, MI Aurora "Dede" Jacques passed away with her daughters at her side on Sunday March 2, 2014 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Cheboygan, MI.
She was born May 3, 1919 to Frederick Bradford Shaw and Mable Ruth (Spears) Shaw in Flint, MI. Dede attended Flint Public Schools and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1937 where she earned both academic and athletic honors. She met, the love of her life, Wilbur G. (Dub) Jacques when he was manager of the McIntyres Dairy in Flint where she worked. They were secretly married on November 22, 1937 in Flint.
Shortly afterwards they moved to Bay City. During WW II she worked for Defoe Shipbuilding while Dub served in the army. After the war, she raised their three daughters and enjoyed her hobbies which included flower arranging, bridge, bowling, golf and dancing. She was a member of the Sadie Toeppner Garden Club, The Baytown Dance Club, several Bridge Clubs and was active in her church, Memorial Presbyterian Church where for years she arranged the alter flowers and taught Sunday School. One of her most treasured accomplishments was getting a hole in one at Maple Leaf Golf Club during league play. During their many golf vacations south, she was known for out-playing many a gentleman in their foursome.
She is survived by her daughters; Gretchen Ruth Jacques of Portland, OR, Kayleen Mae (Frank) Pawloski of Kentwood MI and Topinabee MI, and Minette Marie Lefkiades of Topinabee MI. Five grandchildren; Gary A. (Marie Luscomb) Lefkiades Jr., Bradley Lefkiades, Erin (Bill) Birdsall, Jacqueleen Pawloski and Alan (Eva Nichols) Pawloski, two great granddaughters; Alexsiah and Haylei Pawloski, her brother and sister in law Allen and Jeannine Jacques and her special nephew Jim Olson.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 15, 2014 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 312 Lafayette Street, Bay City. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday March 14, 2014 at Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home, Bay City.
