- Grandpa was away in the service and was a chaufer for the General at the recruiting station in Boston Mass Navy. Grossie lived with Aunt Ede when mom was born. She was born in Union Twnship and there was no hospital and still isn't today in 2018, so we think that mom was born at home.

- The day Rog decided to run string all over the house my folks had goneout for the evening (don't remember where they went) and when they gotback they couldn't even get in the front door. They didn't seem madbut they went out to sit in the car while we cleared out the string. We didn't do that trick again. Did your Mom ever tell you about thetime Father short sheeted all our beds? That must have taken him along time to do that. He did mine, Dot''s, Poot's & Em's. I don'tremember where we would have all been gone out of the house so he coulddo that. It was quite a surprise to us because he didn't do stuff likethat usually.

- Aunt Laura traveled with them also. **I have hand written notes of this!! Somewhere!
Feb 17, 2019
Just got off the phone with Auntie Em. She said, "Rog was very sick on that trip". She said, "while they going over the 'Rockies' that he was so ill he was lying on the floor of the car". And while they were at Aunt Dode's, she (Em) went downstairs to tell the adults that, "there was something wrong with Rog, he was really sick". She said, "he was really having trouble breathing".
At the beginning of the trip as they were going through San Bernardino, I believe they would have been traveling on Foothill Blvd, at this time, 1949, the 210 Freeway had not been built, the 'swamp cooler' broke and dumped all the water onto Grossie. They stayed at what Auntie Em called the TeePee Motel, which is actually the Wigwam Motel at 2728 Foothill Blvd., Rialto, California To read more about this trip go to 'Clan Lore' website (http://clanlore.com) and click on 'Our Clan's Lore'

- Not sure if they had a honeymoon or not.
Mom borrowed the money from Uncle Rog to pay for dad's divorce from Rayne
Mom said when Grossie, Grpa & Em took her to the airport, as she walked out to the plane on the tarmac, if she had turned around she wouldn't have left.
Dad had gambled the night before mom arrived. Playing "payday stakes" he lost his car, so they had no car when mom got there. I'm not sure if he lost his whole pay for the month or not.
