  Written by, Aunt Joan: John was born in his parents home on Cedar St. in Livingston, N.J. on 1 Jun 1867. He married Emilia Christina Lenora Buhle May 1887 and they lived in Orange, Hew Jersey where he had a moving company. (He said Thomas A. Edison was one of his customers and he was a "slow pay". The family moved to Livingston about 1915 where he took up farming and real estate, building houses, etc. Hazel Avenue is named for his oldest daughter and he built several houses there. On 10 Jan 1922 John was elected Fire Chief of the newly organized Fire Department (volunteers) and he served until 1926. John served on the Township Committee between 1923 & 1927. John died 1931 in Memorial Hospital in Orange, New Jersey and is buried at Hanover Cemetery New Jersey. His wife, Emily died in San Diego in Nov. 1933 and she is buried with him.
