Tinker, Ellen L Underhill Obituary

Caption Note: Mrs. Ellen Underhill quietly entered into rest, Tuesday evening, May 14, 1918 at the age of 73 years.

Ellen Tinker was born in Monroe, Ohio, Mar. 1, 1845, and moved with her parents to Pine Run at the age of 20. She was united in marriage to W. H. Underhill May 10, 1866, at Flint.

There are 10 children in the family, 26 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, William and Fred Tinker, of Pine Run, two sisters, Mrs. John Frost and Mrs. Sheldon, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, five sons, Clayton, Elmer, John, Fred and Charles and five daughters, Mrs. John Taylor, Mrs. Arthur Cross, Mrs. Jessie Carslate, Mrs. Ella Berry and Mrs. Blanche Gickgraf.

She was for many years a member of the Congregational Churches of Grand Rapids and Vanderbilt of which her husband was a pastor.

She was an invalid for the last seven years of her life and was cared for by two of her daughters, Mrs. Taylor of Thetford, and Mrs. Cross, of Grand Rapids, where she passed away.

The funeral services were conducted in the Christian Church of Pine Run, of which she was formerly a member, on Friday afternoon, Rev. E. C. C. Benson officiating. Interment was in Vienna cemetery.
